The Wildness

Last night a colleague told me she'd been invited to contribute to a new outdoor-lifestyle magazine called Chicago Wilderness. As she enthused about her column on spiritual gardening, something was buzzing in me too. It was the word itself- wilderness, or more accurately its cousin-wildness- wild- that caused my palms to twitch. In Women Who Run With the Wolves, (one of my favorite books) author Clarissa Pinkola-Estees writes that women, especially, long to return to their wildish state.
