Cuttlefish: Fish or Something Else?

Cuttlefish are marine animals placed in the order Sepiida. They are cephalopods. The close relatives of cuttlefish are octopuses, nautiluses and squid. One may get confused by the name as the word fish is attached but they are molluscs and not fishes. Recent studies suggest that they are the most intelligent invertebrates living today. They also bear largest brain to body size ratio among all invertebrates. Cuttlefish have derived their name from Old English word. The shell is internal. They have W-shaped pupils, eight arms and two tentacles. The arms are provided with denticulated suckers which act as efficient organs of prey capture.
